Frances Sim-Higgins
I studied art at the Quay School of Arts, Whanganui, majoring in painting. I graduated in 2005 with a BFA.
I now work in my studio, the hen and Hound, 107 Rapanui Road, painting and now also creating ceramics.
I intend my paintings to be viewed as contemporary impressionism.
My paintings are almost all about the elements of the landscape, land, sku, water and plants. I describe my work as non-figurative and impressionistic. I want the viewer to be drawn into mu work and to continue to find things in the work that engages them. I would like them to even bring something of themselves to the work as they stand before it. The medium I choose to work in are watercolor and gouache.
